Biography
Hello! My name is Joyce Suarez and I am currently a freshman in Rider University. Before attending Rider University, I resided in West New York, New Jersey and graduated from Memorial High School. In Rider University, I am majoring in Biology with a minor in Health Administration. After graduating Rider University, I plan on attending Medical School to become an Emergency Medicine Doctor. I decided I wanted to become an Emergency Medicine Doctor after becoming an Emergency Medical Technician, which has helped me to get a lot of experience in the field of emergency medicine. The reason why i chose to become an Emergency Medical Technician was because a few years back, I watched two EMTs revive my grandfather from Cardiac Arrest. This really motivated me to become an EMT and In about a year or so, I plan on becoming a Paramedic, which is the next step after becoming an EMT. The difference between both is that Paramedics have a higher scope of practice than EMTs. I feel that volunteering/working in E.M.S. is going to prepare me for a career in the medical field and it is something I have grown a huge passion for. Not only is EMS giving me experience, but I am also giving back to my community by volunteering in EMS. My grandmother always told me, do what you love and not what pays most. Luckily, I can now say I found what I love and that is emergency medicine. For the moment, I have laid out several short-term goals, which are to find a part-time job as an EMT in the Trenton area, become a fireman, and obtain a 3.5 GPA. I hope you guys follow my blog and continue to read up on my posts, so you can know a little bit more about me.

Right off the bat, Joyce went up there with a lot of confident that the audience and I felt this speech was going to be a very good one. Joyce’s words flowed out his mouth smooth with good transitions and a structured outline of where he was going with this presentation/blog. The opening of Joyce’s blog, there was an EMS sign/picture, which lets you know what Joyce and this blog will be about. Similar to Kamila, Joyce had good hand motions, eye contact, timing, pace, confident, and introduction. Joyce opened different links of where he worked, where he is currently working, where he volunteered, and his resume. Doing that, Joyce opened a visual aid for the audience to better understanding what he was saying. In Joyce’s biography, the past, present, and future snapshot of his prospective job was evident. Joyce explained what led him to this EMS path and why. During Joyce’s presentation, he recited the EMT’s prayer and told the story of his first time being a little nervous on the job. After reciting this prayer, Joyce felt better about him helping other people because he knew God was there, helping him through everything. I believe this was good because it opened a relationship with the audience and Joyce. Joyce also mentioned on his blog that he wanted to open a club called “Rider University Emergency Medical Services” and this club will be efficient to provide quick and professional medical care to all of the students, faculty, administrators, employees, and visitors of Rider University as well as the surrounding community in times of need or disaster. Later in Joyce’s blog, he puts up various speeches, outlines, and video of him talking about the one thing we all know he loves dearly: EMS! Joyce mentioned he was getting an interview in EMS field and was going to bring this up in their attention which I thought would be a good idea. It would be a good idea to show his interviewer that Joyce meant business and is very dedicated!
ReplyDeleteJoyce created a design that was based on the job he had an interview for. He takes pride in being an EMT and it showed on his blog. His blog seems plain but it shows professionalism. You can tell he is very ambitious and doesn’t let things stand in his way. He showcases well produced features. The EMT prayer showed his commitment and emotional strength that it takes to be an EMT. It shows that he can work very well under pressure. His ultimate goal showed that he is a planner and organized man. I loved that he put his logo because it showed his creativity. His persuasive speech showed that he wants to make a difference and cure people who need help. And his passion speech showed his real love for being a part of EMS. His resume added to his compatibility with to the job he wanted. These features showed his purpose and his need. His bio was well written and had no errors that I thought were really noticeable. It told his past, present and future. It was very easy access to his resume, company site and other features that he included. His blog showed his expertise. It also showed his creativity, uniqueness, careful attention to detail and marketable skills. He presented with confidence. His introduction grabbed the audience’s attention, established a need, developed credibility, and had a purpose that everyone would remember. He was well prepared and conducted a nice impromptu that highlighted his biography, his skills, and compatibility with his EMS job. He delivered clear objectives and confidently demonstrated remarkable attributes to the audience. His resume and projects worked very well in his favor. He spoke really clear at a good volume and had a nice pitch. He is very good speaker. Some things he should improve on his nonverbal communication skills. He needs to have a better posture, use his hands more, and use facial expressions so that it could add to his passion.
